About

I have a great passion for animals, the natural world and all things wildlife, and I’m happiest when outdoors.

I’m also obsessed with gardening and  growing my own, but I am very much an amateur. I garden organically and always consider the pollinators and all our native wildlife when planting.

I really enjoy walking and cycling, and I love to travel, especially with our dogs.

I volunteer in a rescue, mainly working with wildlife, although our shelters care for dogs, cats, small mammals, wildlife, horses, ponies and farm animals.

I have a hubby, daughter, three rescue dogs, an abandoned cat, two special needs hedgehogs that live in large rabbit hutches in the garden, a pygmy hedgehog that was an unwanted pet and an array of rescued/released birds that have made my garden their home. Many creatures pass through my door, that’s a side effect from volunteering in a rescue!

I live in Liverpool and love all things Scouser, I’m also a professional artist, and middle-aged….but please keep that to yourself.

This blog is about the things that interest me…..which is pretty much everything. Oh yes…..I also enjoy blogging and reading like-minded bloggers.

Just read about your Peanut, thought I’d add my two penn’oth.
“Penelope” decided to adopt us about a month ago and felt quite honoured, us that is. She obviously decided we were ripe and sure enough we were hooked. Fortunately we ‘d got a bag of wild bird seed containing sunflower seeds, other mixed grains and a supplement. We soon got to recognise and to look out for the droppings and quickly learnt to recognise the stink. Following breakfast (hers) she wanders off to next door where she gets another breakfast and then to another neighbour where sits and sunbathes (weather permitting). Back to us for lunch & tea and then just like Peanut, launches herself into the Beech tree via our bungalow roof, occasionally emitting either a coughing or honking sound, not sure what that’s about. I can only assume she’ll move on come the Spring. We shall see.

    • This had me laughing, how wonderful! You have me missing that bird! If only we didn’t live on such a busy road!xxx

  2. Oh, my, I´m lost when I get to South-Germany so I think scouser (I had to look it up even) is nothing I´d understand – but my hubby is into Platt (Plattdeutsch), so I have a general understanding.
I´m sadly afraid of dogs but I love cats and mice and I grew an avocado. And travel. Now I will have a closer look on your blog itself 🙂

  3. Love all those that you are doing and passionate about – cycling, gardening, nature, wildlife, travelling, etc.. Would definitely follow you on..

  4. I know this one….My first tentative steps in this new world….Much to learn. I’m sure you can and will help. Hugs! <3

  5. How good to find a fellow scouser! Maybe I don’t qualify as I was from Birkenhead but the undergardener is certainly from Liverpool! We moved down to Devon 24yrs ago with husband’s job and started creating our wildlife garden. We are now retired and enjoying a slower pace of life. Like you I wouldn’t leave my dogs to go abroad, I think you have found a wonderful solution
I’m so glad I found you, will be visiting regularly!

    • Lovely to meet you Pauline, I haven’t come across many Scousers in the blogging world either.
      Thanks for visiting.xxx
