By the time summer kicks in, my body starts changing for the worse, and despite the endless rain we’ve had, I’ve still got on with my normal summer persuits.

Formby pinewoods

Endless walking, cycling and gardening can do strange things to one’s body! I feel as though I’ve had two bricks implanted in my butt and my thighs curve out at the sides in the most alarming manner….they look like they belong to a German shotputter.

I now have what I call my watering can arms, which sit far too snugly in my T shirts. I get a weird muscle on each bicep which looks something like a tennis ball writhing under the skin like an alien trying to burst forth….horrible to behold it is!!!

The trouble is I really enjoy long walks and cycles. This is the view taken while walking home from the pub where we’ve enjoyed an evening of swift watching. Sometimes it’s gets a little blurry on the way home…..well, the beer just slides down when it’s warm, doesn’t it?

doberman and collie pups

Sam always manages to make a show of us…no table manners at all this dog!!!

cycling down the cheshire lines

After an hour long bike ride down the Cheshire lines, it’s wonderful to arrive at the Scotch Piper where we enjoy a half of Black Sheep with a bottle of Manns….

And all this exercise sure does bushwack a girl….and her bloke…and her dogs!!!

And sends you off like a baby!
